Executive Director, Educational Resources

Ms. Mai Luu, CPA, CMA, CFE

Ms. Mai Luu, CPA, CMA, CFE, has been with Commonwealth Capital since 2018. Coming from an accounting background with experience in various privately held companies, she has been primarily responsible for all aspects of the operations of the Accounting Department within Commonwealth Capital, from financial statement preparation to internal controls, treasury, audit, and tax compliance. 

Given her rich educational background experience, Ms. Luu took on the role of the Executive Director of Educational Resources in 2023 and is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with University Incubators and Accelerators in the United States.

Ms. Luu also serves on the Commonwealth Capital Income Fund-I Investment Policy Committee.

Having an entrepreneurial spirit, Ms. Luu has launched several small previous businesses, both overseas and in the United States. She is the founder of a premium posture corrector brand that is now present in the US and Vietnam markets.

Ms. Luu speaks three languages: English, Vietnamese, and French. She has two B.A.s, one in French Language & Literature from Vietnam National University and the second in Business Administration from the National Economics University of Vietnam. In addition, Ms. Luu holds an M.S. in Accounting from Northeastern Illinois University. She is an IL-licensed CPA (Certified Public Accountant) and holds the CMA (Certified Management Accountant) and CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner) Certifications.

She is a member of the Small Business Committee of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), and serves as the Vice President of Educational Activities of the IMA Chicago Chapter. The IMA Small Business Committee addresses issues that impact small and medium-sized organizations and suggests solutions to standard setters and regulatory agencies such as the SEC, FASB, SBA, American Banking Association, FINRA, IRS, etc. 

Mai currently resides in the city of Chicago. With a passion for arts, she published a series of mandala coloring books and created other mandala-inspired works as a form of artistic expression and self discovery.
